The fishing village of Port-en-Bessin ( a strategic oil harbour in 1944 ) has retained its charm and authenticity and is popular for its lively ambiance.
This coastline, alternating long beaches and high cliffs, is laden with the Landings’ history .This little town of Calvados was liberated in the few hours that followed the D-Day on 6th June 1944 . This area suffered litle damage from the fights that occured during the Normandy Invasion.
Today it is a popular holiday destination that perfectly combines heritage and modernity.

Thanks for these. I’ll have to come back and look at some of your other Normandy photos when I’m not rushing off to work. My grandfather died in Normandy when my Mom (his daughter) was an infant.
