We all know what a farmers’ market is, but does it exist in your town? One of the pleasures of visiting France is that they are everywhere! “Le marché”, is part of life in almost all towns and large villages in France, so much so that the market can be seen as part of France’s historic heritage.In some countries like in the UK or USA, the farmers’ market is a tradition that has been revived. The smaller the market, the more it will tend to be an outlet for local producers. In rural areas, it is still possible to find markets where small farmers sell just their own produce – potatoes, vegetables and fruit in season, flowers, farm-produced cheese, home-made bread, eggs, and even a living rabbit or two! I love the colourful outdoor markets. Beautiful pictures! Most of our produce is bought in supermarkets where I live. We don’t have many markets of that kind. One of my dreams is to spend time walking or cycling the rural areas of France sampling the delicious local produce as I go. 🙂

Small countryside roads from village to village, a real “art de vivre”, a beautiful light all year long even in winter, mediterranean vegetation (olive trees, orchards, vineyards…). And in the Luberon replace your bike by your shoes and walk to discover the famous place. Have a nice day ! Cécile

Great photos. We have a Farmers Market here on Sundays. But it is a way of life in France and the food looks so fresh and you know that it all is local. 😀
