Visiting Le Puy-en-Velay is like going on a treasure hunt: the extraordinary chapel dedicated to Saint-Michel at Aiguilhe, the Rocher Corneille and the statue of Notre Dame de France , the cathedral (World heritage by UNESCO) and its 12th century cloister.

Marquis de La Fayette’s statue. Marquis de La Fayette, 1757–1834, was born at the Château de Chavagniac a few kilometres from Le-Puy-en-Velay. He is known, among other things, for his active support during the War of Independance of the United States of America.

The Way of St James, or the Camino de Santiago de Compostela is a series of pilgrimage routes running across all of Europe with Santiago de Compostela in north west Spain as their final destination.
People have been walking it – as a pilgrimage route – for over a thousand years.
