Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port ( “Saint John at the foot of the mountain pass” ) is a little town in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department in south-western France close to Ostabat in the Pyrenean foothills. The town is also the old capital of the traditional Basque province of Lower Navarre.
This is also the starting point in the movie The Way ( film).

As always I love the picture’s on this site I spent a lot of time traveling in Europe in the 70s when I was in the military but never off the beaten track. This site reminds me of some of those trips yet shows me another side I completely missed
