This must be one of the most beautiful landscapes in France ! One that is surely inspiring to walk through on your way to Compostelle. I love the wilderness as well as the more domesticated land which means so much hard work. Through your excellent pictures I can feel the heat, the scents of flowers, the tasty food, the tired legs… Thank you for sharing part of this special journey.

Your photographs are beautiful. They make me want to go there! I have been in Paris but I was there for a workshop and was not able to get out into the countryside. One day I’d like to bike the countryside there and eventually own a little stone cottage like some of the ones in your photographs, either in France or Italy. Hi there, my family and I spent 4 months in the LOT VALLEY last year – abs the best time of our lives – I walked with my children from Espalion to Conque (we didn’t make it) on the Compostelo route, had to call in transport for the last 10 km as my daughters shoes gave her terrible blisters but what an experience – I am abs madly in love with that part of France, the food, nature, the cows, the nuns. Will def go back as soon as we can. Enjoy!! 🙂

It’s definitely one of my dreams to walk on this (one or one of the other) ancient pilgrimage paths. As I’m moving to France in less than a month, maybe I’ll get to experience this sooner rather than later! Great photos…especially the one of the cheese. French cheese is probably the thing I am looking forward to the most in moving to France! Well, that, and eating in general 🙂

I am moving to the Rhône-Alpes region, Lyon to be precise, and very excited to do so! I do have so interest in hiking & biking, though between school and work, I may have to put any long tours off until next summer! But then again…maybe not 🙂

great pictures from a wonderful part of france. that route is in my wishlist after done the spanish camino norte. but my french is notexisting. how is that for a start? do they speak english?

Thanks for your comment ! If you walked on the Camino del Norte you can walk on the Puy Route ! This is the route which is in France the most frequently walked. There are many nationalities. the “albergues” or gites as we called them in France work the same than in Spain but it depends on the season you want to walk. The best is to reserve in advance and this is my job ! If the language is your problem I am here to resolve it and assist you ! your luggage can be transferred too or not, as you wish !
