Lourmarin ( Provence ) in winter light….
Lourmarin is located in Provence ( Southeastern France ), at the foot of the Luberon Massif .
Lourmarin ranks among the most beautiful villages of France and combines authenticy and charm.
The French Writer Albert Camus ( The Stranger ) used to live there and is buried in the local cemetery.
What we call ” Luberon ” is in reality a small, low mountainous massif dotted with numerous charming perched villages where the Provençal Art of Living is authentic and vivid and where it seems that time has stopped for years even if local traditions and culture are still strongly anchored. Merci, Cecile et Thierry, pour votre visite a mon blog et votre décision de le suivre. Your photos of Lourmarin brought back a visit there ten years ago to use up a gift certificate for dinner and a night at the Moulin de Lourmarin, then with a two-star (and rather pretentious) restaurant. The room was “adorable,” the dinner excessive, and after we both were sick in the ultra-luxurious salle de bain that night for having eaten too much, we discovered next morning the certificate was no longer being honored (a spat with the sponsoring organization) and we had to pay an unexpected 560 euros for a visit we would otherwise not made. But afterwards, we had coffee at the Brasserie de la Fontaine and walked about, then visited Camus and his Madame in their cemetery, and generally recovered our great fondness for the Luberon. Thanks so much for bringing the memory back to me!

I read my first book by Albert Camus when I was 14 years old. It was called La Peste. I was quite affected by it. So your post brought back memories of my English book review!
I was quite surprised to see the style of windmills as they look very similar to the ones in rural Australia. I haven’t seen them like that in overseas pictures before.
I love the beautiful old stone buildings with tiled roofs. The landscapes are very pretty. What a joy it must be to cycle through these areas.
