The modern art mecca of the French capital, the Centre Georges Pompidou, is also known as Beaubourg . The building, which looks like an airport terminal, with its pipes, lifts and external scaffolding was a much-debate object when it was created in 1977 .
Georges Pompidou the President at that period wanted that Paris creates : “A cultural Center that would be a Museum, a Creation Center where painting would mix with music, cinema and books.”
Forty years after, the Pompidou Center plays a major part in the French culture but also abroad. More than 100 000 works of art; a library, cinema rooms, an Institute of Music and other educative activites.
