Alhtough cod fishing in the XIXth c. gave Paimpol some prosperous years, this town was always a maritime city : like many other Breton harbours in the XVIIth c., Paimpol also participated in the famous commerce raiding privateers.
Welcome to Paimpol, a city influenced by the Breton culture maritime history of its men and women.
Paimpol harbour is well located in the heart of the town. Legend said that during the prosperous time of cod-fishing, you could walk across the schooners’ decks from one side of the harbour to the other !
