On the banks of the Thau Lagoon “Etang de Thau”, a total mess of wooden poles, fishing gear, traps and nets drying under the sun. It smells fish and it is a great delight for cats and seagulls. The fishermen in yellow oilskin come here to stock gear, laugh and drink pastis, ignoring curious observers. They make their living on various trades connected with fishing. Sete is already a particular city but La Pointe is even more unique and authentic.
At the beginning this place was composed of illegal fishermen huts randomly built which are now replaced by small one-storey-houses. La Pointe Courte has yet a wild aspect on the edges of the lagoon and has preserved these makeshift fishermen shelters made of scraps and jetsam.
